Resources for Parents
Welcome to the parent resource page for the empowHER Leadership Retreat. Below you will find the background and personal story of a few members of our team. Their individual stories explain why they are passionate about empowHER, and are hoping that the lessons learned from their journey will make a difference in someone’s life. We have compiled resources with a fantastic group of advisors, which we hope will assist you in some manner to navigate challenging situations with your child. We hope you find this information beneficial!
We invite parents to join a meaningful and interactive Q&A session designed to support you in raising confident, resilient youth.
This special session will feature Dr. Natalie Moser, MSU clinical psychologist and Director of the MSU Psychological Clinic, who specializes in pediatric psychology and child development. Through an open Q&A format, parents will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain practical, research-backed guidance on topics such as confidence, communication, and emotional well-being.
The session will be hosted by Amy Bocian, Parent Co-Chair, whose daughter April’s story inspired the creation of EmpowHER. Founded in her honor, the EmpowHER Leadership Retreat was built to equip youth with the tools to build confidence, embrace their strengths, and navigate the challenges of adolescence in a supportive community. Amy will share April’s story and the powerful purpose behind this program, grounding the conversation in why this work matters so deeply.
The discussion will be moderated by Janelle Jones, Parent Co-Chair, whose own personal experience has been deeply shaped by the EmpowHER program and its impact on both parents and participants.
Together, this session will provide both expert insight and meaningful perspective—designed to leave you informed, supported, and empowered as a parent.
